The Architect of Visual Rhythm Mostafiz Karigor is a master of blending graphic structure with organic flow. Qayyum Chowdhury

The Master of Folk-Modernism Quaiyum Chowdhury (1932–2014) was a titan of Bangladeshi art, celebrated for seamlessly blending traditional folk motifs with modern aesthetics. Bahar Rahman

He turned screen-printing into a cultural movement. Founder of Nitya Upahar and a pioneer of Bangladeshi graphic T-shirts, he blended literature, art, heritage and street culture into wearable stories. Since the 2004s, his iconic designs flag t-shirt of Bangladesh has travelled from Dhaka’s Aziz Super Market to Everest peaks, Meth Olympiads and Dhaka to France solo voyages across oceans. Alongside fashion, he built a creative hub where artists, photographers and young talents shaped a new visual language for Bangladesh.

Mahbubur Rahman

Visual Artist & Creative Director, A member of the Britto Arts Trust and Group Creative Director at FCB Bitopi, Mahbubur Rahman brings 18 years of advertising and artistic expertise to his work. Deeply influenced by the culture of Old Dhaka, his multi-disciplinary practice challenges humanity’s dominance over nature. Through research-driven visual storytelling, Mahbubur explores the intersection of social and political themes, creating artworks for Nitya Upahar that urge a more sustainable and equitable relationship between humans and the planet.

Anisuzzaman Sohel

Anisuzzaman Sohel is a celebrated multi-disciplinary visual artist and designer based in Dhaka. A BFA graduate from the Institute of Fine Arts, his work explores consumerism and social crises. His acclaimed career includes awards from the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy and the Aminul Islam Young Artist Award. Since Nitya Upahar’s inception, Sohel has been a pivotal creative force, designing iconic heritage-based visuals such as Gazirpat, Vasha Shoinik, and Barnamala, bridging the gap between fine art and wearable culture.

Nityaupahar Studio

Founded in 2001 at Aziz Super Market, ’Nityaupahar Studio’ became a legendary space where fashion, heritage, and storytelling met. Guided by Bahar Rahman’s vision, the studio thrived through creative freedom, adda, and collaboration among artists, photographers, architects, explorer, actors, and cultural workers. Designs were published under individual artists’ names, while collaborative works were preserved as ‘Nitya Upahar Studio.’ Through screen-printing and poetic narratives, it evolved beyond retail into a powerful cultural movement preserving Bangladesh’s national identity.

Minhaj Ahmed

Graphic Artist & Author, born in Dhaka into a creative family, Minhaj Ahmed is a natural artist, philosopher, and writer. Over a prolific career, he has collaborated with renowned digital platforms and prestigious publications such as Kali O Kalam. A celebrated contributor to T-shirt art—most notably with Nitya Upahar—his creative depth extends into literature. He is the author of Parichay Patra, a book published at the Amar Ekushey Boimela, reflecting his unique blend of visual and thought-based artistry.

Muntasir Mamun Imran

Multidisciplinary designer, explorer and social entrepreneur his work draws inspiration from geography, movement, and cultural memory. He is a mountaineer, long-distance cyclist, travel writer, and editor of TRINO magazine. Muntasir is actively involved with the International Coastal Cleanup campaign and serves as the Country Coordinator for The Ocean Conservancy, USA, and host of the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour in Bangladesh. As a designer with Nitya Upahar, he transforms landscapes, maps, and regional narratives into contemporary visual expressions.

Anupom Sarkar I The Ghost Designer

'Anupom Sarkar' is the elusive creative force and "ghost designer" behind some of Nitya Upahar’s most iconic works. Operating under a pseudonym to maintain anonymity, he steps in when inspiration is needed most. His portfolio celebrates Bengal's heritage, from historic landmarks like 'Mahasthangarh' to the evolution of 'Balya-Shikhkha'. Through intricate maps, cultural motifs, and socially conscious art like the ‘Dear Dhaka’ mask series, Anupom masterfully weaves history and contemporary life into wearable storytelling.

Chandra Shekhar Shaha

Is a visionary architect of Bangladeshi craft movement. More than a textile designer, stands as an institution whose lifelong work has preserved and reinterpreted the country’s traditional aesthetics, artisanal knowledge, cultural narratives for contemporary generations. He contributed nearly every major local fashion houses. His bond with Nitya Upahar remains deeply personal, where his curatorial vision shaped notable exhibitions such as Song of Weaving and the Fashion Talent Hunt, both of which significantly influenced the discourse of Bangladeshi fashion and heritage crafts.

Hasem Khan

Hashem Khan is a famous legendary painter of Bangladesh. His paintings are mainly extraordinary reflections of rural life and nature in Bangladesh. In his figurative or abstract works, the diversity of nature and seasonal cycles are captured with special resonance - even in children's textbooks. He has made an important contribution to enriching the art and culture of Bangladesh. The works done for Nitya Upahar are a simple reflection of his own style of work.

Abul Barq Alvi

Abul Bark Alvi is a renowned painter of Bangladesh who directly participated in the Liberation War. He is an expert in book covers and illustrations, a teacher and former dean of the Printmaking Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Dhaka University. His artwork reflects a deep connection with the land and people of the country, a unique abstract style and the use of calm colors. Although his works for children are small in number, they are special.

Kazi Abul Kasem Dopiaza

Kazi Abul Kasem (7 May 1913 – 19 July 2004), pen name Dopeyaja, was a Bengali polymath and trailblazer. Known as the first Muslim cartoonist of the Indian subcontinent, his political cartoons were very popular during that era. He drew cartoons and pictures for various famous newspapers from 1937 to 1980. He also designed and illustrated countless book covers. He wrote extensively for children. Many of his drawings and illustrations were used in national school textbooks. We are proud to remember his contribution in our journey.

Sheikh Afzal

One of the prominent realist Painter of Bangladesh. His artwork vividly depicts rural life, nature, and the daily lives of ordinary people. His work, using oil and acrylic, combines Western and Eastern styles, sometimes depicting vast fields of crops, sometimes the Sundarbans or the lives of hill people. He is a professor in the Department of Drawing and Painting, Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka. One of his artworks, made for Nitya Upahar, captures a special resonance and story.

Md. Abdul Aziz

Md. Abdul Aziz (b. 1974) is a versatile artist, muralist, and Associate Professor of Oriental Art at the University of Dhaka. With four solo and 75 group exhibitions globally, participated the first New York Art Symposium in 2023, his work includes 17 major murals across Bangladesh, extensive book covers, and illustrations. Notably, he received an Honorary Award at the 5th Paris Art Fair. For Nitya Upahar, Aziz designed a unique tribute T-shirt featuring eight brave soldiers killed during the 1971 Liberation War.

Kadimul Islam Jadu

Kadimul Islam Jadu Is a Bangladeshi painter (b. 1967) and government school art teacher based in Thakurgaon. A Rajshahi University BFA graduate in Graphic Design, he has participated in over 20 group exhibitions home & abroad. His accolades include the 2019 Best Painting Award from Sharong Art Group (Tokyo) and a 2021 Honorable Mention at the 24th National Art Exhibition. For Nitya Upahar, he designed 2 notable commemorative T-shirt, including 'Amar Shikshak' honoring Qayyum Chowdhury, and 'Brojen Das' celebrating the 60 years of English Channel conqueror.

Imran Hossain Piplu

Born in Dhaka (1972), Imran Hossain Piplu is an acclaimed sculptor with an MFA from Dhaka University. A UNESCO/Aschberg fellow and co-founder of Britto Arts Trust, his contemporary installations have been showcased globally, including the Venice Biennale. Piplu’s collaboration with Nitya Upahar brings this world-class artistry to everyday life. He has contributed delightful, vibrant collections for children and pioneering digital artwork that utilizes DTG printing technology, beautifully enriching the brand’s creative heritage.

Kanak Aditya

Artist, musician, and designer Kanak Aditya is a co-founder of the acclaimed band Joler Gaan and the creative force behind Deshal, where he serves as Director and CCO. His artistic journey is a rich tapestry of painting, photography, and music, fueled by a lifelong love for travel. A veteran of the creative industry, he also played a pivotal role in the early years of Nitya Upahar, contributing signature designs to their T-shirt collections from 2002 to 2005.

Rasel Ahamed Rony

Visual Artist & Art Director a Fashion Design graduate from Shanto-Mariam University, Rasel Ahamed Rony is a versatile visual artist with over a decade of creative expertise. Since 2011, he has led impactful projects at Filim International and Nymphea, specializing in publications and audio-visual storytelling. Currently serving as the Assistant Art Director at a-line Limited, Rasel blends technical skill with artistic vision to create compelling visual narratives that resonate with heritage and modern aesthetics.

Sajal Khaled: A Hero's Ascent

Sajal Khaled was a visionary Bangladeshi mountaineer and filmmaker. On May 20, 2013, he became the fifth Bangladeshi to conquer Mount Everest, proudly hoisting his national flag at the summit. Tragically, he passed away during his descent, remaining forever amidst the Himalayan peaks he loved. Beyond mountaineering, Khaled was a creative soul and designer for Nitya Upahar. He is remembered as a "dream man" who blended his passion for adventure with a deep love for his culture.

Rachishnu Sanyal

Kolkata -based artist Rachishnu Sanyal has two decades of expertise in book covers, illustrations, and design. Renowned for incorporating unique Bengali typography, he fluidly transitions between canvas, paper, and digital graphics. His signature style blends simplicity with artistic depth, often experimenting with human behavior, letters, and numbers. Rachishnu’s iconic designs for Nitya Upahar—including ‘Hau Mau Khau’ and ‘Zuzu Buri’—perfectly showcase his innate ability to bring folklore to life.

Fayez Hasan

He has been associated with the local fashion industry of Bangladesh for over a decade. Despite his previous experience in filmmaking, his work and research are deeply connected to the country's folk traditions, crafts and cultural identity. He founded the digital archive platform ‘bdfashionarchive’ with the aim of documenting and preserving the traditional fashion and craft culture of Bangladesh. One of his notable initiatives is the 'Art and Craft Map of Bangladesh', which showcases regional crafts from across the country.

T H Tonmoy

T H Tonmoy is a Bangladeshi artist born in Hatiya, Noakhali. After earning his BFA and MFA in Drawing and Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka, he became a teacher at a government high school in Hatiya. He inspired by childhood nostalgia and local heritage, his art draws from Rickshaw art, cinema posters, and Nakshi Kantha. He specializes in computer graphics, enamel, and ballpoint pen paintings, famously designing iconic t-shirts like 'Bangladesh Rickshaw Painting' and 'Bangladesh 1971'.

Najib Tareque

Najib Tareque (b. 1970) is a pioneering Dhaka-based Bengali artist, printmaker, and writer. A trailblazer in digital art, he co-founded ‘Jolrong’, one of South Asia’s first online art galleries. Since 1987, his work has been featured in over twenty local and international exhibitions, earning him a Ministry of Environment award in 1998. From 2002 to 2005, Tareque brought his exceptional talent to Nitya Upahar, contributing significantly to the brand's early Bangladeshi genre T-shirt journey.

Shaleh Mahmud

Saleh Mahmud is a talented contemporary painter of Bangladesh. In 2003, he was a pioneer in forming the alternative art platform 'Chhobir Hat' along the road in front of the Fine Arts Institute along with other contemporary young artists and was associated with this initiative for many years. The visual form of the ancient palm leaf script style of the subcontinent is found in his work and he is particularly skilled in creating miniature works of folk art.

Wakilur Rahman

Eminent painter and printmaker Wakilur Rahman creates a larger context in his artwork by exploring the relationship between Bengali calligraphy, the shape, expression and visual consonants of the alphabet. He graduated from Fine Arts Institute, DU and obtained an MFA degree from the Central College of Fine Arts in Beijing, China. He has received many awards at home and abroad for his artwork. Rahman was born in 1961. At Nitya Upahar his works are minimalist, brilliant in their own right.

Sadya Mizan

Sadya Mizan (b. 1987) is an independent curator, researcher, and arts manager. Since 2012, she has pioneered the Uronto Artist Community and co-founded Art Initiative Bangladesh (2018). Her notable curatorial collaborations include the UN-IOM’s Rohingya Cultural Memory Centre and the British Council. Her research fellowships span Asia Art Archive, ARThinkSouthAsia, and EDI Global Forum. Notably, Mizan also designs vibrant children's apparel, enriching Nitya Upahar’s collection with celebrated works like ‘Foring kore tirig biring’, ‘Kana Machi vho vho’ ect.

Akram Ratan

Akram Ratan (b. 1978) is BFA from SMUCT & MFA in Graphic Design from Dhaka University. An award-winning designer, he crafted prominent visual themes and logos for the Bengal Foundation (2003–19) and founded Bindu Art Academy in 2020, where even can learn marginalized children for free. For Nitya Upahar, Ratan masterfully transformed legendary photographer Nasir Ali Mamun’s portraits of language movement veterans into the iconic, wearable tribute T-shirts, 'Our Hero of Our Time' and 'Whoever Deserves What'.

Aminul Islam Tuhin

Is a journalist at the Daily Jaijaidin, writer, film critic, researcher, and photographer from the cultural capital, Kushtia. Passionate about exploring culture, literature, mythology, and arts, he also dabbles in book cover design. From the early days of Nitya Upahar, Tuheen championed their "T-shirt movement" by running street stalls to promote its unique aesthetic language, while also contributing several of his own custom T-shirt designs.

Nasir Jayed

Nasir Jayed (b. 1976, Sirajganj) is a versatile Bangladeshi artist whose lifelong passion for painting overcame academic hurdles. After earning a pre-degree from Khulna Art College, he moved to Dhaka to pursue his artistic career. Adept in watercolor, oil, acrylic, and graphic design, Jayed has showcased his work in two solo and multiple group exhibitions home & abroad. Notably, he designed the acclaimed 'SM Sultan' tribute T-shirt for the clothing brand Nitya Upahar.

Najir Hossain

Self-taught folk artist, Nazir Hossain (16 March 1982) popularly Known as ‘Tiger Nazir’. He mainly works with traditional medium art, ‘Potchitro’ and representing the Bangladesh in the world. His Potchitro, Specially on Traditional Bangali Folk Story Such as, Gazi kalu Champabati, Banobebe, Mymensingh Geetika, Bahula lakindor, Gazir pot and Royal Bengal Tiger. ‘Bantora kun the tiger, a mascot representing his motherland in Japan. Tiger Nazir already participated around four hundred exhibitions for home and abroad.

Istiaque Reza

Based in Canada, software engineer Istiaque Reza seamlessly bridges technical precision with cultural heritage. Currently working within the banking sector, his user-centric designs focus on connecting human needs with impactful solutions. Bringing this same visionary approach to Nitya Upahar in 2012, his apparel designs celebrate local roots and identity, reinterpreting traditional elements through a remarkably modern, sophisticated lens.

Apurba Kanti Das

Dhaka-based visual artist, designer, and filmmaker Apurba Kanti Das holds a BFA in Drawing and Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka. His versatile creative portfolio spans photography and short films, showcased across multiple solo and group exhibitions. Collaborating with Nitya Upahar during 2007–2008, Apurba designed iconic, narrative-driven T-shirts, including 'Shahbag'—capturing the historic old intersection—'Drama', featuring nine world-renowned theatre legends, and the conceptually rich 'Wheel of the World'.

Mahmood Joarder Poltu

(21 June 1967 – 10 May 2022) was a visionary Bangladeshi artist, digital creator, and cultural activist. Holding an MFA in Craft from the University of Dhaka, he deeply enriched urban folk traditions. Paltu was renowned for his vibrant street Alpanas at the National Shaheed Minar and his dedicated work with Sarachitra for Mangal Shobha Yatra. A prominent figure at Chhobir Hat and Ghuri Utsav, his iconic "Troi Che Guevara" Sarachitra, featured by Nitya Upahar, remains a testament to his lasting creative legacy.
